How to set up Twilio for your repair business
Twilio is the phone company behind your business texting: appointment confirmations, “tech is on the way”, estimates, review requests. The account is yours: you create it, upgrade it and send us two keys — MeraFix does the rest: the phone number, the texting setup and the carrier registration. About 20 minutes of your time, then a wait while Twilio and the carriers review.
Before you start: have your EIN letter in hand
U.S. carriers require every business that texts customers to register (A2P 10DLC). Twilio requires your legal company name EXACTLY as on your IRS EIN confirmation letter (CP 575; if you lost it, the IRS can send a 147C letter) — not a DBA or trade name. A business with an EIN registers as a company, never as a sole proprietor. No EIN yet? Get it first — it's free:

Create the account
Open twilio.com/try-twilio. Enter your first and last name, email and a password (at least 8 characters), or use “Sign up with Google”.
Verify your email (link in the message) and your phone number (code by text). Twilio then asks what you want to build — pick messaging/SMS and continue to the Console.

Upgrade the account
A trial account can only text up to 5 verified numbers, can't hold more than one phone number, and expires after 30 days — so upgrade right away.
Click Upgrade at the top of the Console (or search “Upgrade”). The first screen is “Your account and tax details”.
Account details: choose Business, not Individual. Legal business name — letter for letter as on your EIN letter, not a trade name.
Tax details: Country — United States. Address — the physical address of your business (Twilio uses it to charge the right local tax), the same one as on your state registration; start typing it and pick the matching suggestion. Not a P.O. box. If the screen asks for a tax ID, enter your EIN.
Then add a card and the first payment; the screen shows the minimum amount.
Twilio may ask you to upload a government ID.
Twilio checks your business from these details and emails you if it needs anything else — forward that email to us. You don't have to wait for the check: go to the next step right away.
💡 The #1 rejection reason: the legal name doesn't match IRS records exactly. Copy it from the CP 575 letter. A very new EIN (issued in the last 30–90 days) may not have reached the carriers' databases yet — that can delay approval.

Send us your Account SID and Auth Token
On the Console home page (Account Dashboard), find the Account Info panel.
Account SID — starts with “AC…”. Auth Token — hidden by default, click Show. Copy both and send them to your MeraFix contact.
That's all from you. We connect the account, buy a local number in your area code and register your texting with the carriers (A2P 10DLC); everything is billed to your Twilio card. Don't buy a phone number yourself.
Treat the pair like a bank password: whoever has both has full access to your account. Send it only to MeraFix and never post it anywhere else. If the token ever leaks, tell us — Twilio lets you replace it (API keys & tokens → Request a secondary token → Promote to Primary), and we'll switch to the new one.

If something goes wrong
My business profile was rejected
Almost always the legal name or EIN doesn't match IRS records letter for letter, or the website isn't a working public site of your business. Fix it to match your CP 575 / 147C letter and resubmit; send us the rejection email if unsure.
My texts aren't delivering
Usually the carrier registration is still pending or was rejected. The SMS page in your MeraFix admin shows the registration status; each message shows its delivery status.
I already have a Twilio number I use for calls
Keep it — send us the keys of that same account and we'll attach that number to texting; calls and texts can share one number.
